Oscar nominations for 2024: Scorsese, Barbie, and Poor Things are eclipsed by Oppenheimer

Following the announcement that his most recent picture, Oppenheimer, has received the most nominations, Christopher Nolan appears to be on track to win his first Oscar at the ceremony next month. The movie, a biographical account of Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist who developed the atomic bomb, is up for 13 awards, including best director, best picture, and best adapted screenplay. Award-winners Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., and Cillian Murphy are all in the running. With four nominations overall, including best picture and director, this total makes it the most for a single film since The Shape of Water in 2018. Nolan, who had previously received five Oscar nominations, is also favored to win at the Baftas, which take place next month. However, he has never won any prizes there either. Popup Iframe Example
